FIJIAN-born Parramatta Eels star Maika Sivo has been charged with “indecent annoyance” while on holiday in Nadi.

The National Rugby League says the Fijian international will face court today after an alleged incident in a Nadi hotel while on a trip back home to visit his family.

“The club takes these incidents seriously and will be monitoring the situation closely,” the Eels said in a statement on their website.

“As with any legal matter, it is important that we follow due process, and the club will review all information available regarding the alleged incident.

“We are currently providing support to Maika and his family.

“The club has informed the NRL integrity unit and will be making no further comment at this time.”

The 26-year-old Sivo was a revelation for the Eels in the 2019 season after scoring a NRL-leading 22 tries in 25 games as his team charged into the finals series, eventually bowing out to the Melbourne Storm.

His stunning rise to become one of the competition’s leading wingers came after arriving at the club on a cut-price deal from Penrith’s lower grades in the preseason.
