The Royal Australian Air Force has dispatched a P-8A Poseidon plane to Fiji.
The Australian Department of Defence posted a picture of the plane taking off from an airfield.
“The plane will be used to assist the Fijian Government in reconnaissance and damage assessment of affected areas following Tropical Cyclone Yasa,” stated the Department of Defence on it’s Twitter handle.
Australia’s Foreign Affairs Minister Marise Payne had stated in a statement today an Australian air force jet will also be deployed to help survey storm-affected areas.
