Assistant Minister of iTaukei Affairs Isikeli Tuiwailevu has stressed the importance of the roles played by the Roko Tui (provincial administrators).
Mr Tuiwailevu told a Roko Tui workshop in Suva the three-day training provided an opportunity for them to reflect on the services they provided to villagers.
“The question you should ask yourselves is how can we help indigenous people,” he said.
“We should serve faithfully and wholeheartedly in the provincial council office we have been assigned to.
“These past three days you were reminded of your leadership role, your service to the community and the influence of your work in that community.”
Mr Tuiwailevu said Fiji was different from what it was in the past.
“The world we live in challenges us on a daily basis, therefore we need to plan accordingly to withstand those challenges.
“We need to make wise decisions so that we can address the issues of the iTaukei people.
“The work you do will have an impact on people in the communities you are serving.”
