ABOUT 180 people at a settlement in Dogotuki, Macuata will benefit from a newly-commissioned access road.

Rural and Maritime Development Minister Mosese Bulitavu said the new access road at Caurokodrika would serve about 30 households, including both iTaukei and Fijians of Indian descendant families.

Mr Bulitavu said the road would improve connectivity and ease transportation challenges faced by residents living in remote areas.

“The access road will benefit farmers, especially young men who plant yaqona in the hills, allowing them to transport produce to markets more efficiently.”

He said the project would also improve access for schoolchildren and provide better linkage to the main road network through various transport options.

“Improved infrastructure is key to supporting rural livelihoods and strengthening local economies.

Mr Bulitavu said better roads would reduce travel time, improve safety, and enhance access to essential services such as health and education.
