A TOTAL of 13 communities gathered for the Cricket for Good Fiji program, which took place yesterday at Bidesi Park in Suva.
Program manager John Tuilagi announced that this marked the conclusion of the fifth season of the initiative.
“The day’s activities included a competition focused on life skills, where children participated in speeches highlighting important values such as respect, honesty, and leadership,” said Tuilagi.
Prizes were awarded based on these values, emphasising the program’s commitment to character development.
The participation of 13 communities in the competition was encouraging, and Tuilagi explained that they actively reached out to local communities to encourage involvement, aiming to benefit not just the participants but the entire community.
“With the children on holiday, the program provided them with an enjoyable experience, and many of the participants were new to cricket, making it rewarding to see them learn the sport while having fun.”
Despite unfavorable weather conditions throughout the week, the organisers were fortunate to enjoy some sunshine yesterday during the event.
“Communities from as far as Navua to Galoa, as well as Nausori, were represented, resulting in a strong turnout this year.
Tuilagi expressed gratitude to all the parents who came to support the program, as well as to Cricket Fiji for their involvement and to the coaches who dedicated their time to the children.
