RISHIKUL Primary School emerged as champions of the Nasinu Primary Schools Soccer Competition after defeating Narere Primary School 4-2 in the Under-14 final at Rishikul Primary School on Thursday.
Head coach Shivneel Sami praised the commitment and sacrifices made by his players, attributing the victory to months of hard work and dedication.
Sami dedicated the triumph to God, the players, their parents and the entire school community.
“First, I’d like to dedicate this victory to the Almighty and also to our boys who played really well, their parents and the whole school family,” he said.
The experienced coach, who has guided the school’s Under-14 side for the past four to five years, said this year’s squad displayed a higher standard of football than previous teams.
The road to the title was not easy. Sami revealed that the final had initially been abandoned on the main competition day and had to be resumed on Thursday.
Despite the challenges, Rishikul held their composure and eventually secured the championship.
“We trained a lot and dedicated a lot of time towards our preparations. The boys sacrificed class time and family time, and I’m thankful to their teachers for supporting them,” Sami said.
He also acknowledged the support of Head of School Mr Rishi Chand, whose encouragement and commitment to sports development played a major role in the team’s success.
“The support from our head of school was outstanding. He was always encouraging us to prepare well, and the result speaks for itself.”
Sami said the players remained committed throughout the season, often training in difficult weather conditions.
“We stayed back in the afternoons and trained in the rain as well. The boys gave everything for this achievement.”
The coach also thanked parents, teachers, supporters and his fellow staff members who assisted him throughout the campaign.
