Richest race

THE stage is set for the richest horse race of the year when three-year-old Bullet from Lomawai in Nadroga will take on Tamil Tiger from Navosa at the Nasautabu race track in Navosa next Thursday.

A prizemoney of $10,000 is on offer for the winner of this race.

This will be just the third race for Bullet, owned by former boxing promoter Abdul Feroz.

Feroz said they had been training very hard for this important race and they are confident of a good outing.

“My young male (Bullet) has won one race and lost one but we are confident of doing well against an experienced horse such as Tamil Tiger,” Feroz said.

“But with $10,000 on offer in this race we have been training hard and have mapped out a plan for this 450m race.”

“It will be tough as Tamil Tiger has been a champion horse in Nadroga/Navosa winning a number of races last year but we believe we can cause an upset next week,” Feroz said.

“I am new to this sport but I believe horse racing has a future in the country especially in Nadroga/Navosa.”

Feroz said they expected a big crowd for this race and interested horse owners from as far as Ba and Tavua had also made contact in regards to taking part in future races.
