The Republic of Fiji Military Forces has reaffirmed its confidence in Commander Major General Ro Jone Kalouniwai following his reappointment for a further five-year term, with senior officers pledging their loyalty and support as he continues to lead the Force.

The commitment was made during a celebration at the Commander’s residence today, which also marked Maj Gen Kalouniwai’s 58th birthday.

The event was attended by officers, warrant officers, members of the RFMF, Fiji’s defence partners and members of his family.

Speaking on behalf of the RFMF, Acting Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff Brigadier General Sapenafa Motufaga congratulated Maj Gen Kalouniwai on both his birthday and reappointment, describing the renewed term as an opportunity to build on the progress made over the past five years.

“Sir, as you reach this milestone of 58 years, we, the members of the RFMF, congratulate you and offer our very best wishes as we move forward into another year under your leadership,” Brig Gen Motufaga said.

He praised the Commander’s leadership and vision in transforming the military into a more professional and capable force.

“We all look forward to supporting you and reaffirming our loyalty as you lead us through the next five years in achieving your vision for what the RFMF is to become,” he said.

Responding to the tribute, Maj Gen Kalouniwai thanked members of the RFMF, Fiji’s defence partners and his family for their support and for joining him in celebrating both his birthday and reappointment.

He reflected on his years of service alongside the men and women of the Force and expressed confidence in the organisation’s future.

“I am standing here with a lot of confidence, knowing that I have very professional and competent officers, as well as defence partners who continue to stand alongside us as we reshape, refocus, and recalibrate the RFMF,” Maj Gen Kalouniwai said.

The Commander said the next five years would focus on continuing the RFMF’s transformation while strengthening its professionalism and operational capability.

He reaffirmed his commitment to working alongside officers and soldiers to achieve a shared vision of building a more capable, professional and future-ready Republic of Fiji Military Forces.
