The heads of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces and the Fiji Police Force are in agreement to allow the law to take its course as investigations continue into the death of Mr Jone Vakarisi.
Police Commissioner Rusiate Tudravu confirmed that an investigation was initiated following the official lodgment of a report on April 17, 2026.
“The heads of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces and the Fiji Police Force are both in consensus of letting the law take its course, through the conduct of the investigation which is currently underway,” Mr Tudravu said.
He added that the investigation is progressing, with a post-mortem examination already completed.
“At the initial stage of the investigation, the post mortem was conducted, and the result is now with the investigators for further investigation.”
Authorities have not released further details on the circumstances surrounding Mr Vakarisi’s death, but say more information will be made available as inquiries continue.
The joint stance by both institutions underscores the importance of due process and transparency as the case unfolds.
