The Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) Land Forces have reaffirmed their commitment to national security and the fight against drugs and organised crime during the 2nd Quarter Parade held on Friday, May 1.

Commander Land Forces Brigadier General Onisivoro Covunisaqa told troops the nation stands at a critical crossroads — to either remain passive as criminal networks grow, or to rise and defend Fiji’s future.

He said the RFMF has chosen the latter, pledging to uphold the Constitution while confronting narcotics and organised crime.

Addressing soldiers, Brig-Gen Covunisaqa assured them of unwavering leadership support, emphasising discipline, integrity and readiness as key pillars of service.

He also acknowledged the sacrifices of families and communities, stating that the campaign against drugs is not temporary but a sustained national effort to protect homes, schools and future generations.

In a stern warning, Brig-Gen Covunisaqa said there would be no tolerance for divided loyalties within the force, adding that any collusion with criminal elements would be dealt with decisively.

He further warned those involved in drug-related activities that the military would pursue them, stressing that law enforcement efforts would continue with resolve.

Brig-Gen Covunisaqa concluded by assuring the public that the RFMF’s operations will remain lawful, sustained and focused on safeguarding Fiji’s sovereignty and people.
