CHILDREN battling cancer in Fiji become young champions of advocating the search for joy and the essence of love and life, and for WOWS Kids Fiji, their “little champs” smiles propelled the team towards becoming a part of the Rexona Suva Marathon for this year.

WOWS Kids Fiji is the charity partner of the event this year and its board member Kimberlie Smart has welcomed the news of their nomination to be the beneficiary of the marathon.

Smart, who has been part of the charity organisation since 2012, says the news of their selection is an exciting one.

In relaying the charity’s appreciation of its nomination, she said the partnership was an incredible one.

“I suppose our champs are often going through a marathon themselves in their battle with cancer, so I think it’s an incredible partnership that we have here with the Suva Marathon,” Smart told guests at the marathon’s launch yesterday.

“Our children are always so excited for anything that is community based and I know they will be very happy to be part of this new venture.”

The marathon was launched at the office of the Motibhai Group of Companies in Walu Bay, Suva and attended by representatives of the Motibhai Group, WOWS Kids Fiji and Suva Marathon Club.

Smart added the event would be a vital platform to highlight the plight of children afflicted with cancer.

“This will not only be about the dedications that may come to WOWS from this, but just getting together and a community opportunity to be able to create awareness for childhood cancer in Fiji,” she said.
