COSTLY blunders that allowed Nadroga a 2-1 upset win over Rewa in the recent round of the Extra Premier League is something the latter will work on reducing this week.
This is the stern resolve of Rewa’s head coach Rodicks Singh, who says the mistakes will need to be rectified before they face Ba at Churchill Park in Lautoka at 6pm this Thursday.
“I think it’s just our own mistakes, silly ones and the basic ones that we make, the pass that gets intercepted where we were supposed to just dump it along, we play an extra shot pass where we get intercepted or nicked off,” Singh said.
“Those are the things that have cost us. The game against Suva, the game against Nadroga, similar kind of errors, similar kind of goals and if we have to move forward we have to cut down on these little mistakes.”
Prior to their match against Nadroga last Sunday and Navua on Friday, the team had to work their way back into domination against Suva to win 3-2.
They were in the lead at the time until their opponents in white capitalised on the same areas the team could not work on in their game against Nadroga.
Meanwhile, their triumphant opponents are planning to improve on their shortfalls as they prepare for another round of action against Labasa this Sunday.
This, according to Nadroga Football Association’s interim president Parveen Padyachi.
“We’ll go back to the drawing board and we’ll see what our mistakes were in which Rewa came back with one (goal),” Padyachi emphasised.
“But we won’t let that happen with Labasa because we’re playing with Labasa in their home ground.”
This week’s round of matches is important as it serves as a qualifying round for the BiC Fiji FACT 2025 competition.
