REWA Rugby is just one victory away from securing promotion to the prestigious Skipper Cup as it gears up for a crucial clash against Northland this weekend.

A win would be a landmark achievement for the union, which has long been striving to return to Fiji’s top provincial rugby competition.

“Rewa has been waiting for this moment for so long,” said coach Isireli Ledua. Earning promotion to the Skipper Cup would be a tremendous bonus for us this year. We have many new players coming from club rugby, and the chance to compete at this level will be a huge boost for Rewa Rugby.”

Ledua emphasized that promotion would also greatly benefit rugby development within the province, as the squad consists entirely of local talent.

“Most of these boys are from Rewa and have progressed through club rugby. It would be a major uplift for rugby in the province if we secure promotion.”

He also praised the dedication of his players, many of whom juggle rugby alongside work, studies, and village commitments.

This week’s preparation has focused heavily on defensive tactics, with the coach anticipating a tough, physical battle.

“Our focus is on defence because it will be the key to winning the game.”

Support for the team has surged as the season reaches its climax, with clubs, former players, and villages rallying behind the squad.

Despite the challenge ahead, Ledua remains unwavering in his confidence.

“To all the fans, come out and support us. We believe in our team and are determined to get the job done this week.”

As Rewa Rugby stands on the brink of a historic promotion, the entire province is ready to unite behind their team, hopeful for a new chapter in their rugby legacy.
