The Rewa football side will not participate at this year’s Pacific Cup tournament.

A delay in administration has cost the Delta Tigers a spot in the tournament.

The top five teams from Fiji were to represent the country in the tournament in Nadi next month.

Rewa football president Nazeel Buksh said it was delay from their end which cost them the spot.

“We had received the invitation from the organisers and we were still discussing whether to participate or not.

“We missed the confirmation deadline by one day and the spot was given to Lautoka,” Buksh said.

He added that they will make use of this time to concentrate on their regional league competition.

“We have had a busy season with us playing the highest number of games. It has taken a toll on the players and now that we have time, we will complete our regional league.”

Fiji FA competitions manager Amitesh Pal has confirmed the five teams that will be taking part.

Hosts Nadi, Suva, Ba, Labasa and Lautoka will take part in the tournament.

The 2022 Pacific Cup tournament will be held from November 24-27 and the winner will walk away with $10,000.
