A prominent restaurateur has urged all eligible Fijians above the age of 18 to get fully vaccinated.

Aamira Restaurant proprietor Hafizul Rahiman said the second wave of COVID-19 continued to grip the nation.

“The reality is that COVID-19 is now part of our lives,” he said.

“But every disease or virus has a cause and with it a cure as well.

“The medical treatment available to fight against a killer virus is for everyone to get vaccinated because once we’re able to get both the jabs, it will break the link from us getting serious illnesses, hospitalisations or death.”

Mr Rahiman said herd immunity was the way forward for a safer Fiji.

“By getting fully vaccinated, I am able to protect my family and business, hence I urge my fellow Fijians to get vaccinated .

“Don’t be misled by devious people, who speak untruths about the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine but rather do the right thing and get vaccinated.

“There are so many Fijians who have lost their employment after the closure of businesses, many had opted for leave without pay and a great number are currently working on reduced hours so it’s important that we play our part and take the country forward.

“Get vaccinated please because it’s a safer choice.”
