Nobody is willing to talk about the reported presence of ‘armed’ soldiers at Mead Rd Housing in Nabua early yesterday morning.
Residents approached by this newspaper remained tight-lipped when asked about the videos and images shared on social media, which showed what looked like uniformed personnel carrying ‘weapons’ in and around the housing area about 3am, sparking speculation over the nature of the deployment.
Questions sent to the Fiji Police Force and the Republic of Fiji Military Forces seeking clarification on whether any arrests were made, and if armed soldiers were deployed, remained unanswered when this edition went to press.
The reported operation comes amid heightened attention on the Nabua area following recent security-related incidents, including investigations into an alleged assault involving the son of a military officer and the discovery of ammunition near the Mead Rd bus stop earlier this month.
There has been no confirmation whether any operation was linked to any ongoing investigations.
