The Fijian Elections Office (FEO) says the country’s National Register of Voters now stands at 707,982 registered voters, following its latest update completed in January 2026.
Figures released by the FEO show the latest exercise reviewed data covering the period July to December 2025.
During the update, 3,442 deceased persons were removed from the register, 484 individuals were flagged as inmates, 34 voters were reinstated and two people were removed after renouncing their Fijian citizenship.
The latest update follows a series of voter roll verification exercises conducted since July 2023.
According to the data, the number of registered voters has generally increased over the period, rising from 695,435 in July 2023 to 707,982 in January 2026, despite ongoing efforts to remove deceased voters and update the register.
Since July 2023, the FEO has removed a total of 30,123 deceased persons from the National Register of Voters.
Over the same period, 733 individuals have been flagged as inmates, 190 voters have been reinstated after verification, and 10 people have been removed after renouncing their Fijian citizenship.
The FEO noted that its July 2025 verification exercise included a four-phase deceased voter verification process using information from the Births, Deaths and Marriages Registry (BDM), the Fiji National Provident Fund (FNPF), the Provisional Voters List (PVL) together with Turaga ni Koro and next-of-kin verification.
The office said the BDM and FNPF data used in that exercise covered records from 2012 to June 2025 as part of efforts to maintain the accuracy and integrity of the National Register of Voters.
