The positive performance of returning workers from New Zealand has resulted in the Seasonal Solutions Cooperative Limited (SSCO) to return to Fiji and recruit more Fijians.

The Permanent Secretary for Employment, Productivity and Industrial Relations, Osea Cawaru stressed this while bidding farewell to a total of 27 selected Fijian workers bound for New Zealand to work under the New Zealand Recognised Seasonal Employer (RSE) Work Scheme early this week.

“You will be in demand if you do your best as well as opening doors for more employment opportunities for other potential Fijian workers from your own country,” Mr Cawaru said.

“When you focus on the goal that you have set with your family members back home and remain committed in your work, you are gaining your employer’s confidence and trust for re-engagement.”

In parallel to Fiji’s win in the Sevens Rugby World Cup this week, Mr Cawaru encouraged the group to have that same level of dedication and commitment to putting their country and family first when representing Fiji in the RSE scheme.

He further encouraged the returning workers to share their experiences with the new selected workers and what is expected of them given the new work environment, culture and lifestyle in New Zealand.

Similarly, he urged them to learn from their previous deployments and make improvements in order to earn and save more for their loved ones back home.

This group of selected workers also include 15 returning workers that were engaged since 2015 and 2017 respectively and is expected to depart this week for Otago along the lower areas of South Island.

SSCO is a grower and contractor owned co-operative operating in the South Island of New Zealand since 2004.
