Reading books

I am a member of the Western regional library and one day while taking out books and having a yarn with one of the workers, I noticed a young mother and her two daughters come in and then browse for books.

Silently they went from shelf to shelf.

When they came to the counter to get the books stamped, mom had eight Mills and Boon novels and four for one daughter.

The other daughter didn’t take any so the mom decided to use that privilege to get another four Mills and Boon for herself. One person who had brought her child to the library to do research was sitting outside.

I greeted her and asked, “Aren’t you going to take any books?” Her reply was, “I’m not a member and, I don’t read, I have no time”.

Then she saw the Mills and Boon the lady was taking and said, “Oh no, she’s reading Mills and Boon”.

My answer to her was, “At least she is reading”.

From her look at me, I think she didn’t like me.
