FOR Inoke Ravuiwasa, earning his first call-up to the Flying Fijians is more than a career milestone, it is proof that patience, sacrifice and belief can eventually open the door to a long-awaited opportunity.
The rugby player is grateful for the chance to join the national squad and believes his selection is only the beginning of what he hopes will be a bigger journey.
Ravuiwasa credited his family for standing behind him throughout his career, particularly through their prayers and constant support.
He also carries the memory of his late father, who was a rugby player, with him as he takes this next step in his career.
Being named in the Flying Fijians squad has also given Ravuiwasa the chance to reunite with former teammates from the Suva Rugby Union, making the opportunity even more special.
He said sharing the national environment with players he had previously played alongside was something he was thankful for.
But Ravuiwasa is not satisfied with simply making the Flying Fijians.
He has set his sights beyond the national team and sees his selection as the beginning of a much bigger journey.
“This is an opening door to many other greater doors,” he said.
“This is just the beginning.”

“It’s never too late. I’m living proof that it’s never too late to achieve your goal,” he said.
