WBA Oceania Lightweight Champion Mikaele Ravalaca says a last-minute change of opponent has not affected his preparations as he gears up for another crucial bout this Saturday.
Ravalaca who had been preparing for a different opponent said his focus remains unchanged despite the late alteration to the fight card. The Fijian boxer will face international boxer from India, Mahesh Digari for the WBA Oceania lightweight title during the Kings Boxing Promotion.
“This opponent replacement is good for me,” Ravalaca said.
“He’s better than Rohit in the way he boxes, he’s more experienced and I think it’s going to be a very good fight.”
The champion said he has trained hard and is ready for whoever steps into the ring.
“I work hard every day for every fight, and I don’t want to lose again. I’m looking forward to whoever my opponent is.”
Losing his professional debut against an Australian champion, Ravalaca revealed the bout became a learning experience for him.
Ravalaca shares his attention is solely on producing a strong performance in front of his home crowd, adding he is grateful to once again fight in Fiji.
Saturday’s promotion features several high-profile bouts, including Binnu Singh’s title defence and the return of Joseph Kwadjo. However, Ravalaca said he is paying little attention to the rest of the fight cards.
“There are a lot of good boxers on the line but honestly, I’m focused on myself. On Saturday it’s going to be me in the ring, and I’ll showcase what I’ve got and what I’ve prepared for.”
The boxing promotion will be held this Saturday, 25th July at the Vodafone arena in Suva.
