Fijian chief and politician Ratu George Cokanauto Tu’uakitau died at the age of 78.
A funeral announcement by the family stated Ratu Tu’uakitau died peacefully on Wednesday, September 13 at the Oceania Private Hospital in Suva after a short illness.
Mr Tu’uakitau is the son of the late former deputy prime minister Ratu Sir Edward Tuivanuavou Tungi Cakobau and Adi Lady Vasemaca Tuiburelevu.
He was the brother of former president of Fiji and Speaker of Parliament Ratu Epeli Nailatikau.
Funeral arrangements have yet to be finalised with further notifications to be announced in due course.
He is survived by his wife Taraivosa Lagilagi and his children, Ratu Penaia Kadavulevu, Ratu Jone Savou, Ratu Edward Tavanavanua and Adi Litia Tuiburelevu.
