With only a two-week preparation, Saimone Ratu will face Mikaele Ravalaca during the Blue Water Boxing Promotions bout at the Vodafone Arena in Suva on March 2.

Despite the short notice, Ratu is determined to give his best in the fight. The Naitasiri lad said he was informed about the fight against Ravalaca just three weeks prior. Despite the limited time to prepare, he is not making any excuses and is ready to showcase his skills in the ring.

“Even though I have less time to prepare, I won’t let any day pass by without training, slow and steady on this fight,” said Ratu.

Ratu acknowledges the skills of his opponent and does not underestimate him, emphasising that every fighter is always ready to compete during a match.

“He is a good fighter, with a lot of speed, I won’t underestimate him because all fighters are always prepared to fight.”

Ratu says he has faced criticism on social media, being labelled as “old”, and that it is Ravalaca’s time to shine.

However, he is not fazed by the negativity but instead is using it as motivation to prove his critics wrong. Ratu expressed his desire to compete for the title in the super featherweight division after this fight.

Whether it is against Ravalaca or any other opponent, Ratu is eager for a title fight and is confident in his abilities to secure a win.

In the Blue Water Boxing Promotions Mega Fights, Joseph Kwadjo faces Alivereti Kauyaca in the main bout while Mohammed Ali challenge Ubayd Haider, formerly known as Nathan Singh, for the cruiserweight champion title.
