The Tokatoka Vunivalu comprising chiefly households from the island of Bau have unanimously agreed at a meeting today that Ratu Epenisa Cakobau be installed as the next Turaga na Vunivalu na Tui Kaba.
The meeting that lasted more than two hours was held at the Ulunivuaka on Bau island, attended by members of the chiefly clan, Tuikaba, the Tunitoga and representatives from the Native Land Commission (NLC).
The Turaga na Vunivalu na Tui Kaba is the Paramount Chief of the Kubuna Confederacy.
The position has been vacant since the death of the last Vunivalu, Ratu Sir George Cakobau in 1989.
The installation of Ratu Epenisa as the next Vunivalu is scheduled for March 10, 2023.
