Ratu David laid to rest

Ratu David Toganivalu’s presence brought comfort and solace to those in need and his wisdom guided us through life’s toughest challenges and will be forever missed.

Attorney-General Siromi Turaga shared this while delivering his eulogy during the funeral service of Acting Director of Public Prosecution Ratu David-George Leonard Toganivalu in Taro, Bau yesterday.

Family and friends gathered in numbers yesterday at the Taro Methodist Church to celebrate the life of Ratu David who touched the hearts of many people with his kindness and big heart.

“He was a brother, a mentor and source of unwavering support,” an emotional Mr Turaga said.

“He was a devoted husband, a loving father, son and a brother – he instilled in his children the pillars of hard work, integrity and the importance of family and the vanua.

“As we mourn the loss of Ratu David, let us not dwell on the void left by his passing, but instead celebrate the profound impacts he had on our lives.”

The late Ratu David was born on December 27, 1973 and died peacefully at the age of 49 at his residence in Taro, Bau, Tailevu, surrounded by his family.

Originally from the chiefly island of Bau, his father was the late Ratu David Toganivalu and his mother, Adi Asilina Davila Toganivalu is from the Tokatoka Matailakeba, Mataqali Vuanirewa, from Lakeba in Lau.

Ratu David was well-known and respected and had an illustrious career as a lawyer.

Known for being actively involved in the community and vanua, he lived a life of service to the legal fraternity in Fiji and the Pacific region and will be remembered as a loving and hardworking husband and father.

He is survived by his wife Losalini Leweniqila-Toganivalu and their five children.

Ratu David was laid to rest in the private burial grounds of the family seat in Taro, next to his late father.
