Rarawai FSC Primary School will participate in this year’s Ba Primary Schools Kaji Rugby competition focussing on development.
The competition will start tomorrow and conclude on Friday at AD Patel College and Tagore Primary School grounds.
FSC Primary School will be represented in nine grades. However, their U13 and U14 boys’ teams will combine with Ratu Rusiate Nabuta Primary School and Votua Catholic Primary School to form the Tiliva Team because of a lack of numbers.
Head coach Petero Vaisewa explained that combining teams ensures participation in those grades.
Another franchise in the U13 and U14 grades is NNN, which includes Navala Catholic, Naloto District, and Nakoroboya. Meanwhile, St Theresa Primary and Namosau Methodist Primary School will represent their respective schools in these grades.
Vaisewa confirmed their participation in nine grades including U9 boys, U10 boys and girls, U11 boys, U12 boys, mixed Indo-Fijian and iTaukei teams, U12 girls’ tag team, and U14 girls’ team. For U13 and U14, they will combine with Ratu Rusiate and Votua Catholic.
Vaisewa further mentioned their primary goal is development.
“Our objective is development, we want to develop these young players and prepare them for a good rugby future.
“If we win any grades and that will be a bonus,” Vaisewa added.
About 400 players from 15 primary schools in Ba will converge at AD Patel College and Tagore Primary School grounds to showcase their rugby talents.
In the tournament, U9 to U12 boys will participate in tag rugby, while U13 and U14 boys will compete in full 15s contact rugby.
The U14 girls will play 7s rugby, and the Indo-Fijian teams, known as the Fellow category, will participate in U12 and U14 boys’ and girls’ tag rugby.
