‘We need to be ruthless in defense’. This according to Lautoka Maroons head coach Peniona Ranitu ahead of the Nivea Vanua Trophy Challenge against Rewa tomorrow at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka.
The Maroons left it right till the last minute in securing their win last weekend against Northland, and are aware that Rewa would execute a fast-paced attacking rugby.
“Rewa is a tough team and we have to prepare well,” he said.
Ranitu said the boys’ are training well and are ready for the clash.
“We need to give our 100 per cent in our defense plus the players must have the belief and will to play the full 80 minutes.”
Lautoka Rugby Union secretary Setariki Rakoto said they hoped to pile up points early in the match and not leave it to the last minute.
“We want to make sure, we don’t leave it too late like last week. This is the last two remaining games for the Maroons this year and the boys will empty their tank for a win.
“We have to change our mind set from the first whistle and again look forward to defending the title.”
Rakoto urged the Maroons fans to come out in numbers to cheer on the boys this weekend. Early last month, Lautoka held on to beat Rewa by 35-28 in the Vodafone Vanua Championship semi-finals, before beating Ba in the final.
