Sigatoka Methodist College galloped to its third consecutive Weet-Bix Raluve under-16 title yesterday.
It was a one way show in the final as they scored four unanswered tries to win 20-0 against Niusawa Methodist High School.
“From the last two years, these are all new girls, the others have gone up to U18,” said team manager Repeka Qalibokala.
Their display of skills and knowledge of rugby showed otherwise as it looked like the players have been playing together for a long time.
When asked to share the team’s secret Qalibokala said, “they are from Nadroga. They are very talented rugby players.”
One thing is for sure the rugby crazy town of Sigatoka will be celebrating the win.
“We would like to thank the parents as they were the backbone of this team especially the mothers and the whole of Nadroga Navosa who came here in numbers to support us physically, spiritually and mentally,” the manager added.
The team had the services of former Nadroga rugby players who helped develop their game and referees to help them up to speed with the rules of the sport.
Number eight Repeka Mudunavere was named the Player of the match.
