AQELA Raitubu conjured a definite hat-trick to help her team, Takia, win 27-17 over Bilibili in round two of the Na Soko Women’s Rugby competition at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka yesterday.
Raitubu, Luse Vakaloloma and Repeka Mata placed tries and a conversion by Mata to advance the Takia’s scoreboard over the Bilibili team.
Bilibili’s tries were handed in by Kesaia Senikuba, Raijieli Uluinayau and Ada Dansey while Jennifer Ravutia placed a conversion for them.
The final score was a redeeming one for Takia, since scores stood at five-all at half-time.
Prior to the break, the first half was played tactfully as Mata broke through the Bilibili defence to place an unconverted try.
Mata’s opener was answered by Uluinayau for Bilibili, placing an unconverted try of her own.
With persistent showers raining down on the action, the game intensified in the second half.
This was where Raitubu’s tries were scored, followed by another from Vakaloloma with a conversion made by Mata to put them in the lead.
Assistant coach for Takia, Taione Ratu, noted the difference in structure shown by his side.
“Compared to last week, the team showed better structure today. We stuck to the basics—maintaining possession and going forward,” Ratu told FRU Media. Meanwhile, in the second round two match, Kaunitoni won 21-19 over Camakau.
