FIJI weightlifter Taniela Rainibogi arrived in Qatar yesterday for the 2023 IWF Grand Prix.

The 2023 Pacific Games Best Male Athlete will use this event to try and qualify for the 2024 Paris Olympics in France.

Rainibogi, coach Henry Elder and technical staff took part in a training session on arrival.

Rainibogi won three gold medals at the Pacific Games in Honiara, Solomon Islands in the men’s 109kg category.

He secured gold in the snatch event with a lift of 165 kilograms and 192kg in the clean and jerk, taking his total to 357kg.

He will compete at the IWF Grand Prix on December 13.
