The Railumu sisters, Setaita and Salaseini achieved a lifelong dream and are very close to playing together for the Vodafone Fijiana XV team.

Setaita, the older sister, has been a consistent member of the national squad since 2022 and has also played for the Fijiana Drua team.

Her younger sister, Salaseini, is in line to make her debut for the national team to mark a significant moment in their rugby careers.

For the Railumu family, seeing both sisters represent Fiji on the international stage is a dream come true.

Setaita, overcome with emotion and expressed her pride in her sister’s hard work and dedication to the sport.

She is thrilled to be playing alongside Salaseini and flying the Fijian flag with her younger sibling.

“When I heard the manager announce the names, and then my sister’s name, I started bawling my eyes out,” Setaita told Fiji Rugby media.

“I am so happy to be flying the Fijian flag with my sister.

“It’s a dream come true for our parents who have always supported us since we started playing rugby.”

The sisters have a history of playing rugby together, having won the Women’s Skipper Cup for Tailevu in 2019.

Adi Salaseini mentioned we both played rugby together in 2019 and won the Women’s Skipper Cup for Tailevu.

“Then we both joined the extended national squad in 2021, but it was Setaita who made it to the national team and the Fijiana Drua. Now, I’m excited to join her.”

Both the sisters are excited to head to Scotland for their first test match on Sunday, September 15.

The match is scheduled to kick off at 3.45am (Fiji time) at the Hive Stadium.
