Raiders take out Fijian Cup 9s title

The Fijian Cup 9s held at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka yesterday was an amazing event for rugby enthusiasts, the competition showcasing the talent and skill of both men’s and women’s.

In the men’s competition, Vusu Raiders secured a hard-fought victory over the 138 New Zealand side with 16-14 win.

On the women’s draw, Howick Hornets of New Zealand emerged victorious against the USP Raiders with an impressive 20-0 win.

Vusu Raiders manager Akuila Masi said the game was great and exciting as most of the players came from the village.

He said it was something amazing for the boys to get this win.

“Thanking our sponsors Fiji Airways, Tourism Fiji, FNRL for the support and we are hoping to have more tournaments like this to be held in Fiji,” he added.

In the semi-finals, the 138 New Zealand side beat Nadera, and Vusu Raiders won against Police Sharks.
