Let us make sure we maintain the values that our veterans defended so brilliantly and live as a people worth fighting for.

This was the message from The People’s Alliance leader and former prime minister Sitiveni Rabuka to the people of Ra during a Remembrance Day service in Nanukuloa Village last Friday.

He joined ex-servicemen, current members of the security forces, chiefs and villagers from across Ra in commemorating the gallantry of former soldiers in various theatres of war.

“The sacrifices of our servicemen that have fought in wars and campaigns over the years in the name of Fiji and her people will never be forgotten,” said Mr Rabuka.

“Many times we take our freedom for granted, forgetting the blood, sweat and tears it is built on.

“Despite all that has transpired over the years, their acts of service have never been in vain.”
