A Government of National Unity would depend on provisions of the Constitution, says Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka.
He said any decision would heavily depend on constitutional provisions and parliamentary standing orders.
“Those will all have to be taken into consideration,” Mr Rabuka said.
“I do not want to jeopardise anybody’s career as a member of Parliament, where everyone, so far, has been contributing what they believe to be in the best interests of the people who voted them in.”
The Prime Minister also addressed the status of the Coalition.
“We have not heard anything from within the Coalition, from SODELPA or the Federation Party.”
However, he acknowledged there were external attempts to create discord.
“But I know that there are some who are trying to engineer discontent or even a split in the Coalition. But they are not office bearers of those two political parties.”
