THE people of Ra are rallying behind their rugby team as the side prepares for its first Farebrother Sullivan Challenge against defending champions Naitasiri today.

The Ra side has spent the past two months camping at Namara Village in the district of Nalawa as it builds towards the historic encounter.

Located in the interior of Ra, Namara Village is about an hour’s drive from Rakiraki Town, where the team has been putting in the hard yards under the guidance of head coach and former Flying Fijian Sireli Bobo and assistant coach Meli Wara.

The extended preparation period has strengthened the team’s confidence, with the coaching staff determined to ensure the side delivers a competitive performance against the defending champions.

Wara said preparations had been progressing well, with the team focused on the challenge  ahead.

“We have been preparing for the last two months, preparation has been well, we have been based in Namara Village.

“The energy from Ra supporters is very high. “Five buses alone will go from Nalawa, that is excluding Rakiraki and other parts of the Western Division,” Wara said.

The strong support from the province is expected to provide extra motivation for the players as they prepare to take on one of the toughest challenges in Fiji provincial rugby.

For Ra, today’s encounter is more than just another rugby match.

It is an opportunity to test themselves against the best, represent their province with pride and make their supporters proud.

With two months of preparation behind them and the backing of an enthusiastic province, Ra will be eager to make their first Farebrother Challenge a memorable one.

Both sides will meet at 4pm today at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva.

Tickets are sold on the online ticketing platform Ticketmax for the opening Farebrother clash after an intense provincial rugby season.
