Path to nowhere
I didn’t realise until I read Geraldine Panapasa’s article on Sunday that this year’s Hibiscus Festival was being held at Laucala Bay. What happened to all the years of charity donations to the Suva City Council that were being directed towards improving the concrete all-weather footpaths and other public amenities of Albert Park?

Political leaders
I cannot agree more with Dan Urai of Lautoka on the above subject (FT 22/8). The perfect example is the tyrannous barbarian of the barbarians Adolf Hitler who thought he would last more than a thousand years to change Jewish history. He lasted only 12 years and the Jewish people survived. The difference is that he drenched the world red in a short time. Thanks to the allies.

Illegal traders
People are still seen smoking at no smoking zones at the Suva market and bus stand area. I believe there should be more police officers patrolling in these areas so that we can stop this illegal practice and also those who are caught selling cigarettes should be taken to task.

Poll question
Reading all the comments from people about who they thought would win the Miss Hibiscus crown, I was convinced that certain contestants could have won the crown. The Street Talk polls agreed with what I thought, but we were all proven wrong. Could the Tebbutt polls go the same way?

Make-up issue
A question arose — could a festival have a day where the contestants do not wear make-up. Is it unkind to ask this?

Bridge builders
What a sight for sore eyes to behold. Finally after a long while, one gets to see all our very own nationals building our Fiji brand bridge at Tavua. I wonder why they couldn’t do the same for the other bridges now under construction elsewhere in our own country?

Hope yet
There is a unifying factor despite the difference in political views that exists in our country. That is climate change. Inclusiveness of all stakeholders is the way forward. It can pave the way for bonding and resolving our differences.
