Former commissioner of police Sitiveni Qiliho’s hearing on his bail application, pending appeal has been withdrawn.
Qiliho’s lawyer Devanesh Sharma sought for the withdrawal this morning before Justice Chandana Prematilaka at the Court of Appeal.
Qiliho appeared alongside the former prime minister Voreqe Bainimarama.
Mr Sharma withdrawn the application to focus on the substantive matter. Both defence and DPP filed submissions.
Mr Bainimarama was last year convicted on a count of attempting to pervert the course of justice in the USP case while Qiliho was also found guilty of one count of abuse of office.
On May 8 last year, then acting Chief Justice Salesi Temo sentenced the former PM to one year imprisonment and was released six months later while Qiliho was sentenced to serve two years.
Justice Prematilaka will deliver his judgement on notice to both parties.
