The Permanent Secretary for iTaukei Affairs, Ratu Meleti Raimuira Bainimarama was finally laid to rest this morning at the Old Suva Cemetery – Lovonilase after a private thanksgiving service at the Centenary Methodist Church in Suva.

The thanksgiving service which was officiated by Reverend Iliapi Tuiwai was attended by his wife, Emi Bainimarama and four children, his siblings – Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama, Jonacani Bainimarama and Adi Merevesi.

Also at the service was the Prime Minister’s wife, Mary Bainimarama.

The late Ratu Meleti who was 60 years old at the time of his demise hails from Kiuva in Tailevu and had served across major sectors of the Government for more than 30 years.

He was the permanent secretary for the Ministry of Rural and Maritime Development before joining the ministry of itaukei Affairs in January of 2019 to take up the post of permanent secretary.

He passed away on Saturday, June 12, 2021 after serving five years as permanent secretary.
