With the 2018 General Election looming, now would be a good time for mainstream news media organisations to start reporting on the promises of the Government prior to the September 2014 elections — on what they have been able to deliver and in what areas they have failed.
Also, who are the alternative parties, what is their track record, what do they have to offer, who are the people behind them, what kind of a democracy is Fiji etc.
More analytical reporting could help common people decide on whether to engage in the politics of the country or take a back seat and enjoy Hollywood movies with popcorn.
Let’s be passionate about the running of our country as much as we are for rugby 7s.
Our rugby impacts our mood. Our politics affects our livelihoods.
