A heavy rain alert is now in force for Western and Northern parts of Viti Levu in an area from Momi in Nadi to Rakiraki, the interior of Ba, Ra, Nadroga/Navosa, Serua/Namosi, Naitasiri and Tailevu provinces, Vanua Levu, Yasawa and Mamanuca groups.

The Fiji Meteorological Service states in its 10:30am bulletin, a trough of low pressure with associated cloud and rain lies slow moving to the far Northwest of the country.

It is expected to drift south and affect the Northwestern parts of Fiji from later today.

Forecast for Viti Levu in an area from Momi in Nadi to Rakiraki, the interior of Ba, Ra, Nadroga/Navosa, Serua/Namosi, Naitasiri and Tailevu provinces, Vanua Levu, Yasawa and Mamanuca groups is for showers developing and gradually increasing to rain and becoming frequent and heavy from later today.

Isolated thunderstorms with heavy falls likely over these areas.
