The Project Steering Committee overseeing Fiji’s proposed new National Tertiary Hospital has received the Preliminary Master Plan for the project, marking another milestone in planning for the country’s future healthcare infrastructure.

The committee met under the chairmanship of Permanent Secretary for Strategic Planning Peni Sikivou, with representatives from the Australian High Commission also in attendance.

Consultancy firm JID presented the Preliminary Master Plan, which was first submitted to Government on 2 July.

Government agencies are now consolidating feedback on the report before it is used to prepare a Cabinet paper.

For the first time, the Cabinet submission will include a preliminary cost estimate for the proposed hospital project.

The Government says the Master Plan will help guide decisions on the development of the new national tertiary hospital, with the final decision on how the project will proceed to be made by Cabinet.
