STAFF of the Motibhai Group head office in Nadi planted 1000 mangrove seedlings at Wailoaloa Beach last Saturday as part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and commitment to environmental sustainability.

Forty two staff members took part in the initiative which the company said was aimed at preserving Fiji’s precious marine life and supporting the coastal ecosystem.

“Mangroves play a vital role in shoreline protection, biodiversity conservation and carbon sequestration, and this project reinforces the company’s dedication to sustainable development,” the Motibhai Group said in a statement.

“In addition to planting mangroves, the staff earlier also undertook a beach cleaning campaign to help reduce pollution and protect marine life from the harmful effects of waste and debris.”

To support the initiative, the Motibhai Group encouraged staff and provided time, resources and logistics to ensure its success.

Group manager People, Culture & Admin Sanjay Kumar said the activity reflected Motibhai’s proactive approach to giving back to the environment.

“It is important to preserve our marine life and the ecosystem for future generations. These efforts not only protect our coastal areas but also contribute to a healthier planet,” Mr Kumar said.

The mangrove planting project is one of several CSR initiatives undertaken by the Motibhai Group in 2025.

Earlier in the year, the company and its staff social and charity club made donations to support Animals Fiji’s work in animal rescue and veterinary care.

Team members have also participated in Animals Fiji’s hardwood tree planting drive as part of their national reforestation efforts.

Mr Kumar said such events also supported the Motibhai Group’s commitment to HR innovation.

He said by blending employee engagement with meaningful, purpose-driven activities and enabling staff to contribute to causes that matter, the company was fostering a culture of responsibility, teamwork and pride in the workplace.

The group partnered with the Ministry of Forestry which supplied the mangrove seedlings and allocated planting sites.

“Motibhai Group remains deeply committed to its values of sustainability, compassion, and responsible corporate organisation, actively supporting projects that make a meaningful difference to people, animals, and the planet,” the company stated.
