THE police uniform can be a powerful deterrent against crime, says Police Commissioner Rusiate Tudravu.
His statement comes amid increasing scrutiny of the operations of the Fiji Police Force.
“The uniform is to be present on the ground; that is a big proactive deterrence,” Mr Tudravu said.
“The wearing of uniform is a deterrent. There is a power behind wearing that uniform.”
He has also advised the public to expect more raids as the Fiji police switch to a more proactive method of policing.
