Police relocate call centre

THE Fiji Police Call Centre has been relocated to the police headquarters after an increase in complaints from members of the public.

Acting Commissioner of Police Ravi Narayan re-established the Fiji Police’s Internal Affairs Division on November 15, 2013 to address public issues regarding services provided by the organisation.

As a result of the increasing number of complaints received from members of the public, Mr Narayan decided to re-establish the central unit at headquarters, to ensure complaints against police and service were dealt with in an efficient manner.

The call centre is now located at Police HQ at Vinod Patel Plaza, Laucala Beach.

Previously, complaints against police and services were dealt with on a divisional level by the divisional police commanders.

Under the new alignment all complaints received by the call centre will be immediately dealt with by the head of the unit and his officers.

Heading the unit is Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Luke Navela, who is overseeing the call centre’s operations.

Members of the public are encouraged to call 132 777 or 9905 922 if they have complaints.

This unit will be responsible for investigating reports on a case by case basis to ensure the complainants and grievances are dealt with accordingly.
