Police question 12 officers in Radravu death investigation; four face disciplinary action

The twelve officers involved in the arrest of the late Sakiasi Ose Radravu have been interviewed by investigators from the Criminal Investigations Department, as part of ongoing inquiries into the circumstances surrounding his death.

Police have confirmed that four of the officers were directly involved in Mr. Radravu’s apprehension.

Those officers have been instructed to proceed on pending leave, after which they will be interdicted on half pay.

They will then face internal disciplinary proceedings under the Internal Affairs Department of the .

The investigation has further established that only one officer from the military was present during the incident, clarifying earlier assertions that members of a Joint Task Force were involved.

Regarding the cause of death, police said the Death Register (DR) investigation file is currently being compiled for submission to the Resident Magistrate, with a recommendation for a full inquest into Mr. Radravu’s death.

Authorities confirmed that Mr. Radravu’s mother, who is his next of kin, has been formally briefed on the findings and has provided a signed statement acknowledging the current progress of the investigation.

The Fiji Police Force has urged members of the public with any relevant information to come forward through official reporting channels, stating that updates will be communicated directly to the next of kin as the process continues.
