A police vehicle was damaged after officers used it to block a suspected stolen car during an arrest in Wailoku last Saturday.
Police said the vehicle had allegedly been stolen from Davuilevu Housing on Thursday, July 16, prompting a lookout notice to be issued to officers.
The vehicle was first sighted in Lami before it was tracked to Wailoku, where officers from the Eastern Division Crime Intelligence Unit, Southern Division Operations and Quick Response Teams intercepted it.
“The suspect tried to flee the scene; however, the police vehicle was used to block his vehicle,” police said in a statement.
The police vehicle sustained damage during the operation.
The suspect, who police said has a known criminal history, remains in custody as investigations continue.
