A POLICE officer implicated in the alleged assault of a child has been charged along with his partner.
Police confirmed the accused and his partner have been jointly charged with one count of Act Intended to Cause Grievous Harm.
The pair are expected to appear before the Nasinu Magistrates Court today, Wednesday, October 7, 2026.
The charges follow an investigation launched after a disturbing video showing a young boy being assaulted circulated publicly.
Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu had earlier directed the Internal Affairs Department to urgently identify the individual shown in the video and determine whether he was a police officer.
Mr Tudravu had also stressed that such behaviour would not be tolerated and said both disciplinary and criminal investigations would be pursued urgently.
