Police continue to monitor security at Ratu Kadavulevu School (RKS) as personnel from Korovou Police Station are dispatched for daily patrols to the school.

Police spokeswoman Ana Naisoro said police had been monitoring the situation at the school since students staged a protest against its principal last month.

Meanwhile, parents of the 16 students sent on indefinite suspension for allegedly staging the protest were informed by the Ministry of Education’s Director National Service Delivery, Timoci Bure, that they would be contacted this week regarding their children’s syllabus and examination arrangements.

Mr Bure was responding to letters of concern parents had addressed to him and Minister for Education Rosy Akbar, airing their disappointment.

A concerned parent, Vasiti Qionimacawa, told Mr Bure that since receiving reassurance from the ministry that her son’s education was their priority, nothing real had eventuated.

Questions sent to Ms Akbar by this newspaper remained unanswered.
