Police investigate early morning road crash

The Divisional Police Commander West SSP Iakobo Vaisewa said two drivers involved in a vehicle collision near Wairabetia, Lautoka early yesterday morning managed to escape serious injuries.

It is alleged that the driver who had caused the accident was intoxicated.

“One of the drivers hit the other driver’s vehicle from the back and they both veered off road,” he said.

SSP Vaisewa confirmed that there were no fatalities.

“The two drivers were taken to hospital and treated for their injuries.”

Following the recent road accident in Vatukoula which claimed the lives of four people, SSP Vaisewa issued a stern warning to motorists regarding road safety.

“Maintain your speed limit, don’t rush and try to leave early so that you are able to reach your destination on time but do not speed and please consider other road users.”

SSP Vaisewa said police were investigating the incident.
