WE want justice!

This was the emotional plea uttered by Praveena Kiran after seeing her 80-year-old dead mother carried inside a body bag by Police forensic officers this afternoon at
Vunisamaloa in Ba.

Her mother, Nirmala was staying alone and had been found about 200 meters from her canteen business property.

The victim was last seen by her relatives and those that live nearby on Sunday.

“Whatever had happened, we want to know,” Ms Kiran said.

“I don’t know how people can be so rude.

“My mother has been staying there (shop)for the past 25 years.”

The victim was discovered by Atendra Nair, after noticing a foul smell while on his way to untie the cows at his compound.

Mr Nair then reported the matter to the relatives of the deceased.

According to her son in law, Pushp Sharma, the victim’s electric switchboard was turned off and the grill door was left open when they were looking for her on Monday morning.

“She was not sickly,” Mr Sharma said.

“She had three daughters but wanted to stay alone and not with us. Her husband had died in 2001 and since then she’s been staying here.”

The victim is survived with three daughters and one son.

She was taken to the Ba Aspen Hospital this afternoon to undergo a deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) test as investigators try to establish the circumstances surrounding her death.
